Another great school year is beginning and it is time for the Fairfield Tempo Club to start its valuable support for the award-winning music programs of the Fairfield City School District. For over 65 years, the Tempo Club has provided much needed financial and volunteer help to our young performers. The Tempo Club is a group of parents, students, and teachers that supports all aspects of Fairfield’s music programs in Grades 7-12. This support includes sheet music, instruments, equipment repair, scholarship opportunities, annual Arts Fair, website, music festivals, chaperoning, guest clinicians, building sets, moving equipment, and much more! In these challenging economic times, this support is even more important than ever. The following information explains how the Tempo Club, students, and parents work together to support our music programs:

• First, all families of music students in Grades 7-12 are automatically members of the Tempo Club.
• All music students are requested to participate in our annual Calendar Day to be held on Saturday, September 11th, starting at 9:30am, at Fairfield Senior High School and going to approximately 4:00pm. Our community looks forward to enjoying our calendars each year, and the donations received during this day are a large portion of our annual funds. WE WANT THIS YEAR TO BE OUR BIGGEST CALENDAR DAY EVER!
• Parent volunteers are needed to work at the Tempo Club concession stand at our home football games, as well as various music events. Your music directors will be announcing which football game and music events will be selected for your group to work.
• Also, we are requesting that families of music students participate in one of two of the following options for supporting the Tempo Club and our music department:
  • Option 1 – An annual, TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION of $55 for your first student musician and $30 for each additional student musician in your family. With this payment, families can opt out of further Tempo Club fundraising during the school year! You can download the Buy-Out form in Word format or PDF format.
  • Option 2 – Participation in our traditional fundraisers during the year, including:
    • Fall 2009 Fundraiser – Magazine Sale
    • Spring 2010 Fundraisers – Power Card and Yankee Candle Sale
    • (Additional fundraisers may be required during the year, depending on funds raised)

As a member and for an additional donation, you can become a Tempo Club Sponsor and your name will be listed in various concert programs. Also, friends and relatives can be Tempo Club Sponsors. Sponsorship information can be found below.

Sponsorship

The Fairfield Tempo Club recognizes that music education and performance have proven value in improving student academic achievement. Excellent music instruction and performance opportunities allow each student to develop physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially to achieve his or her great potential. Your sponsorship helps Tempo Club raise funds to assist students of Fairfield City Schools through scholarship opportunities; music festivals (Drum Corps Show, Crystal Classic, OMEA, Arts Fair); guest clinicians; sheet music, instruments; and instrument repairs. By becoming a Sponsor you are enabling our students to excel to their greatest potential. All donations are tax deductible. Your sponsorship giving is above and beyond the participation of fundraisers and is separate from the fundraiser buy-out. We welcome all businesses and families to become a Sponsor. Your donation will entitle student to scholarship opportunities and your name(s) printed in each of the concert programs.

Sponsorships are available at five different levels from which to choose: Patron ($15 donation), Donor ($25 donation), Concerto Contributor ($50 donation), Symphonic Sponsor ($75 donation), or Music Maestro ($100 or more donation). Donations will entitle your student to scholarship opportunities ( 7th, 8th and 12th graders) and your family members' names printed in concert programs. All donations are tax-deductible. Your sponsorship giving is seperate from the Membership Buy-Out and will not be applied towards the Buy-Out.
